Obama calls for 90-day foreclosure moratorium

Democrat Barack Obama, bidding to extend his lead in the polls, proposed Monday to put home foreclosures on hold and give tax breaks to businesses that create jobs, while Republican opponent John McCain issued veiled but stinging criticism of the Bush administration.

I think it's a great idea that should've been implemented at the same time as the bailout.

As our government provides the banks a stay of execution with this bailout, so should the owners of the homes sold by those very banks. They owe these families a chance while we give the banks theirs.

The government has a job to protect it's citizens, not just the CEO's and higher ups of big business.

They're trying everything, hoping something will work. I certainly hope so to. So far, things are starting to look up for jobs, credit, mortgage payments, and retirements, as long as you work for a bank.

For those of you who may be wondering what life in America will be like under President Obama, I recommend that you go down to your local library and check out John Steinbeck's novel 'The Grapes of Wrath'

There will be change alright. We will all be changing tires on our cars a lot more as we travel around the country looking for work.

Actually Hillary Clinton had the idea first:

http://www.hillaryclinton.com/news/release/vi...

And Obama came out against it:

In San Antonio on Tuesday, Obama said that Clinton’s foreclosure freeze was potentially “disastrous,” rewarding “people who made this problem worse” by benefiting banks that profit from high mortgage rates.

A “blanket freeze,” Obama added, might “drive rates through the roof for those trying to buy or refinance. Experts say the value of homes will fall even more, and even more families could face foreclosure.”

So as you can see Obama was against it before he was for it.

If you look at Obama's reasoning for criticizing the freeze in the past, you'll see it's because he was trying to avoid the kind of crisis we're going through now. Of course, with the shit having already hit the fan, we're now in a position to handle things differently.

Obama is paying political lip service to something that would be a disaster if implemented but is popular in theory.
A 3 month freeze on foreclosures only causes more losses to banks and puts everyone deeper in debt.
The sad truth is that a goodly proportion of those who had "bad" mortgages or were unqualified to begin with have already lost their homes. This is like closing the barn door after the cow ran off.
Think about economics people. If banks take losses or credit is tight they must raise their rates--and mtg rates will shoot up right AFTER the election.
That will leave those people in a 3 month freeze in worse shape than they are now if they want to refinance.

This sounds like a good time to stop making mortgage payments, until the moratorium is over.

Crap statement based on absolutely nothing but your opinion, so who's going to listen to you anyway?

You idiots can keep spreading that lie, and you're crap can keep spreading Obama's lead in the polls. Thanks for your fine work for the Obama campaign, when you refer to him as President Obama, remember it was the smear campaign that turned the tide in his favor. Most of America isn't as stupid as you.

Typical ACORN "volunteer": It was "cool" to register multiple times everyone is doing it for Obama.
Mon Oct 13, 2008 - From today's testimony in the ACORN voter fraud investigation.
One thing to consider is the fact that ACORN is not only engaging in voter fraud, they are defrauding the federal government out of staggering amounts of money. If indeed these workers are being paid by the voter registration arm of ACORN (the supposedly "non-partisan" branch of the organization) then they are being paid by the federal funds which support that drive. If they are paid on a per-registered-voter basis, they have, in essence, defrauded the taxpayer every time they submitted a phony registration form. This seems to me to be reason enough to end funding for ACORN's activities. Obama has his now welll publicized long standing connections with this ultra left wing Marxist/socialist "organization" including making sure they have recieved hundreds of millions of dollars over the years..how do you think he was elected in Chicago and since..lawyers/ACLU, intimidation and Acorn.

Mon Oct 13, 2008 - I think it's only fair that we highlight an overview of the brain-trusts casting their ballot for Barack Obama in November. Very enlightening at good for a laugh until of course you realize that Acorn and Obama are getting these "average" Obama voters/supporters to register and vote up to 100 times each! This will be without a doubt the most fraud riddled Presidential election in American history..and Obama gave (on the books) over $800,000 directly to Acorn for just this kind of activity and has given them hundreds of millions over the years for the same kind of horrific threats to Democracy (how do you think he won in Chicago and since!). Mabey you were one of those interviewed!?

The bottom line is there's 100 years of inflation that will be wrung out of the ecomomy. Look for an economy that's 75 percent smaller in 2 years.
