Billboards Posted Claiming Martin Luther King Was Republican

In 2006, the National Black Republican Association (NBRA) ran a radio ad trumpeting that Martin Luther King was a Republican. It was, of course, decried as false. As we enter the home stretch of another important political race, the NBRA is again stating the same claim, using billboards this time.

Well, that's not too surprising. The SOBs have been lying to us about virtually everything, for the past 8 years. Why would they suddenly change ?

Considering how extreme the left has become, it really isn't surprising the MLK Jr. would consider himself closer to republicans of the 1960's...he was far more moderate than the current crop of democrats. Of course he was also much more moderate than the far right.

Considering the record at the time of people like Helms, Hatch, McCain and Goldwater, or statements by Republican pundits like Paul Harvey and William F Buckley Jr, your remarks are almost obscene.

Civil rights never were about right or left, they were about right and wrong, and when racist Democrats abandoned their party due to civil rights and the Voting Rights Act, the Republicans embraced them with open arms.

The Democrats back in the 50's were for slavery. The Republican were the ones being bashed because they wanted to give them rights. It also traces back to the slave days. Democrats were far mor involved in the slave trade were a majority of Republicans, mainly conservatives were working on ways to give them rights.
Learn your history people. More than likely MLK was a Republican. What have the Democrats ever done for the Black people besides find new ways to make you dependent on them?

I guess teh Democrats must be reminded of their DixieCrat roots and heritage.

Should I remind the demorats that their most senior senator (Robert KKK Byrd) proudly wore the white sheets and swore never to serve with blacks?
Only one in history to vote against both black supreme court nominees?

Find it interesting how Obama and Clinton both choose to kiss his ring when they joined the club instead of asking him to leave.

Okay, which Party, overwhelmingly, voted for the Civil Rights Act - yes, the Republicans.

Who was Abraham Lincoln, the man who freed the slaves?

Yes, a Republican.

The only reason Dems claims the mantle is because they can give away everyone's hard-earned tax money to people in the form of welfare - that goes for blacks and whites. Dems keep the black and white people of this country in an endless, hopeless system of welfare.

Please name the person responsible for the following quotes:

"The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia...[and] in every state in the nation."

"I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.

Yes, the current oldest and longest serving Senator in the Congress, Robert C. Byrd - A DEMOCRAT.

Do you filthy Democrats really believe that MLK would believe in abortion? higher taxes? separation of church and state?

Good luck on that one.

MLK wasn't smart enough to be a Republican.
He wasn't smart enough to stay out of the way of a local labor-management dispute in Memphis.

Yes! May fate grant me the opportunity to buy you a beer or other festive beverage of your choice for that one.

And, many of a leftward bent are surprised to learn that Lincoln was a Republican.

'Kennedy was not a strong supporter of civil rights'...well, now, there's an understatement, eh?

The democrats still don't like blacks. They support the welfare state which has destroyed the black family, they support very liberal policies on crime which devastates mostly black communities, they support clowns like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton who have made millions keeping blacks down and in line for democrats, with thier talk how they will fix all the problems affecting black neighborhoods from crime, illegitimate births, drugs and gangs. The democrat party is still the party of slavery ,hell who needs the Klan and Jim Crow laws when you can get blacks to kill each other, destroy thier own neighborhoods with drugs, prositution and gangs and then have a couple of REAL uncle toms such as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson to help keep the status Quo. With sky high murder and crime rates, one fourth of black men in jail or awaiting sentencing, and the number #1 killer of young black, other young black men, maybe blacks need to look at history and the two parties and see who and what is really going on.

Ah, you seem to be in the wrong century. In the 1850s the Democrats were for slavery. They were opposed by the Whigs, not the Republicans.

Now in the 1950s, a Democrat President desegregated the armed forces, and that was a large component of a Republican being elected President. Now that Republican opposed desegregation, but would not reverse the Democrat's decision. That Republican was displeased with his newly appointed Chief Justice's overturning the landmark Plessy v Ferguson with the new precedent Brown v Board of Education.

I think you are more than a little confused about who gave "them" rights.

I was alive when Barry Goldwater ran for President. I was alive when the Civil Rights Act of 1964 passed. I remember the debates. I remember the leaders and I remember the Republcan party courting segregations who were unhappy with their Democratic leadership.

I have one thing to say about your remarks. You are a liar.

It seems to me that the Republicans couldn't put up a billboard saying Martin Luther King Jr was a Republican if it isn't true. Wouldn't that be grounds for a lawsuit by the King family? I haven't heard of any lawsuit being filed against the Republican party by the King family.
