A controversy is brewing around a baby doll that some parents believe gives a religious message.

I can understand the words, "is the light," but cannot hear "Islam." Could go either way... If, like most Fisher Price Toys these days, it's made in China, it's somewhat questionable that it would advertise Islam, but who knows...

I think you need to watch Obsession. It might be in your mail or your newspaper inserts. I watched it and it was a really eye-opener. It was balanced and from a moderate viewpoint. It isn't the hate propaganda it was accused of being. |
OT -- but you pick up an interesting point. How come the Mormans (and other religions too) are not all over Iraq bringing the "true word" of the various gods and trying to convert the muslins? Why no missionary's in Iraq? |

I would really be worried if there were millions of these dolls in stores and the message was plain and clear.
but it aint.. chalk it up to a bit of hysteria |

HAHA ;) I am not of the thought that kids around the world will be brainwashed into converting (to any) religion thru the use of dolls. I find it funny that the people who are more worried about these dolls are the ADULTS. The children couldn't give a bugger what the dolls say and it would more than likely never effect their choice of religion or belief. We already FORCE that on our children now. It's more about ignorant people being afraid of the ideals of their own self vision of what they want of their children being shattered. In a way, we selfishly brainwash our kids into OUR beliefs as it is anyway. When they become adults they will find their own paths and I think a healthy dose of education on what the different religions are based on wouldn't be a bad thing for future generations to be able to make informed decisions. Not a fear mongering like such that is being displayed here, simply because a doll SOUNDS like it is saying something it isn't anyway. Like I said, so what? The kid doesn't care what the Doll says. |

Not sure what you are talking about there? I am in Australia. Do we get that here? |

Why would they do that when it's easier to do what they do at home with a Christian Majority anyway. More likely to get followers in the West, than in a place where it's a minority. |

1 Not sure. You bring up a good point and an oversight on my part. Well, I read on here in another article on Topix about an "offensive movie" that was being distributed in newspapers and in the mail. It was called Obsession, and it was about the threat of radical Islam. I was a bit disappointed when the article said that the newspapers stopped using the DVD as an insert, since I didn't see it, but also disappointed since I don't subscribe to the local papers. Well, that afternoon, when I checked the mail, I found that the Clarion Fund had mailed it to me. So I plopped it into the DVD burner, and well, I found I had no players loaded. So, after installing one, I watched it. It was just a balanced movie talking only about the radicals and the threat they impose, and it was mostly Muslims and former members of terror cells and hate groups who told things from an inside view. One thing to note is that the term Jihad and the term Mein Kampf (a term used by the Nazis) both mean "self-struggle" or "my struggle." The beliefs of both the Nazis and the radical Islamics are similar. Both call for wiping out the Jews (among others) and creating a super race of sorts. The video even linked Hitler with one of the first proponents of the Jihadist ideology. |

1 There is more truth to that than you might think. The Jihadists are the new Nazis. |

2 Well, Iraq's not quite a democracy yet. And I'm willing to bet that they, like Saudi Arabia, will always rule by Sharia law; by religion. And that means no other religion but Islam will be allowed. |

1 I find it both sad and funny how outraged some people get over the lamest things...I wonder how outraged they would be if it said "Jesus was the light" instead. Were that the case I am sure all the Christian tards of the world would run out in droves and snatch them bitches off the shelves. |
